Might not help you but just gave support with an update problem on the phone - Sophos Anti-Virus was in the programs list and using msicuu2 solved the problem. Sophos AutoUpdate has not created any log files under the system temp location to further troubleshoot the issue. I would probably try running Process Monitor at the same time of an install and try and align this error with what's going on in a Process Monitor log.
