Ubuntu 14.04 High Cpu Usage

Mark (nix4me) wrote on 2006-06-16: #22 I just installed updates today, 6/15 and now both my boxes are constant 15% with both 686 and 386 kernels. The 386 kernel usage is what should be expected, which is nearly at the bottom for CPU usage. It can provide a lot of info regarding what your program is doing and help narrow down where it is spending time. If that doesn't resolve it then I recommend contacting tech support:http://www.mathworks.com/support/contact_us/index.html[EDIT fixed links] 6 Comments Show 3 older comments Livio Livio (view profile) 1 question 0 answers 0 accepted answers Reputation: weblink

During the work, you may change the governors to whatever fits your needs. These three meta states can be further subdivided. If I run top there is nothing above 10%. In other words it is idle while waiting for an I/O operation to complete. On a system where no processes have been niced then the number will be 0. 0.4 wa - Input and output operations, like reading or writing to a disk, are slow

Different issue. To work around the issue type "vino" into the Dash search box and select "Desktop Sharing". CPU use is permanently above 50% of 2.13GHz. For this finer grained performance tuning you need metrics. https://forum.unity3d.com/threads/high-cpu-usage.350462/ I found that disabling the battery charger in the BIOS solves the issue of excessive CPU utilization.

If the niceness level is greater than zero then the user has been courteous enough lower to the priority of the process and therefore avoid a CPU overload. The second question is whether you're just trying to do too much with your system, and should consider upgrading if possible.
